Eye Exams

Seton Optometry Optometry specializes in providing yearly routine eye examinations.

During your eye exam, you will be evaluated for the following:

Need for or changes in glass prescriptions

Need for or changes in contact lens prescription

Detection of eye related diseases and disorders

At the end of your each eye exam, the doctor will explain his or her findings with you. S/he will also develop a treatment plan based on your needs and circumstances.

Our Comprehensive Eye Exams include:

Visual Acuity Test
Visual acuity refers to your ability to discern the shapes and details of the things you see. A visual acuity test checks how well you see the details of a letter or symbol from a specific distance. It also checks for colourblindness, which can indicate a health problem if it develops later in life.

Cover Test
cover test is an objective determination of the presence and amount of ocular deviation. The cover test also screens for strabismus, eyestrain, binocular vision problems and amblyopia.
Retinoscopy
This assessment is conducted in a dimly lit environment. The Optometrist will shine a light on your eye as he or she flips through various lenses. This can assist them in determining your prescription.
Slit Lamp Examination
The Optometrist shines a thin sheet of light onto your eye while examining it with a biomicroscope. This test allows the doctor to assess the health of your retina, iris, conjunctiva, sclera, eyelid and natural crystalline lens.
Refraction
The optometrist performs refractive testing to determine the lens power needed to focus light accurately on the retina.
Auto Refraction
Another tool for verifying your prescription, the auto refractor determines the lens power needed to focus light accurately on the retina.
Glaucoma Test
Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in seniors. This test measures the pressure of your eye to rule out this concern.
Visual Field Test
This test screens for medical conditions such as stroke, glaucoma, brain tumors and other neurological defects. It can also detect central and peripheral vision loss.
Pupil Dilation
Eye drops will be used to dilate your pupil so the doctor can more thoroughly examine the health of your eye. The effects will wear off in a few hours, however, we recommend that you bring sunglasses to use after your exam. This may not be required in every case.
Seniors Eye Exam
Kids Eye Exam
